Edmonton, AB, Canada – July 15, 2012 - Scam Detector Inc, developer of the award-winning app Scam Detector, is announcing the launch of its Android version app.
Scam Detector app is a free mobile and web-based application that exposes in detail over 550 of the world's most notorious scams, in all industries. The app educates consumers around the globe how these scams work and teaches them how to prevent financial fraud. Scam Detector has been accessed to date in 104 countries and recently won the 2011 Consumer Champion Awards, hosted annually by the Government of Alberta, Canada.

Every scam exposed in the app can be instantly shared on Facebook, Twitter, or by e-mail, while users can submit their own scams.

March 5, 2012 - Edmonton, AB - The Scam Detector app is this year’s winner of the Alberta Consumer Champion Awards (ACCA). The ACCA annually recognizes those individuals, organizations, businesses and media that demonstrate commitment and innovation in educating Alberta consumers and promoting fairness in the Alberta marketplace.
“Consumers look to these kinds of organizations and individuals for information about consumer issues that affect them and in addition to regulations and enforcement measures one of the most effective ways to protect consumers is through education”, says Hon. Manmeet S. Bhullar, the Minister of Service Alberta, the host of the ceremony. “Scam Detector is becoming the largest fraud prevention resource in the world," adds Sorin Mihailovici, developer of the app. "By the end of 2012, we look forward to doubling our database and expose at least one thousand scams.”
Scam Detector is available free of charge as both a mobile and web-based app, and currently lists over 500 of the most notorious scams in the world. To date, Scam Detector has been used in over 81 countries.
Users of Scam Detector will learn how scams work along with ways to avoid financial fraud. Plus, every scam can be instantly shared on Facebook, Twitter, or by email -- and users are invited to submit their own scams to the app. The app adds new scams to its database each week.
